The tanning industry is about to come under strict
regulation for the first time in its history. There are varying ‘opinions’
being expressed on what the effect of this will be however, the facts are
very clear and Sunquest are setting out to assist new and existing
customers to ensure they and their businesses are compliant.
The regulations will enforce a new output standard of
0.3W/m2. Salons will not be able to offer tanning on a compliant basis
unless the equipment being offered to the public meets these standards.
This is not as simple as changing lamps with most equipment and anyone
investing in new/used equipment needs to think carefully before agreeing
to buy UV tanning products.

Our recommendation is to talk to a recognised
manufacturer who is working towards ensuring their products and customers
will be compliant. Sunquest have launched a range of Future Fit products
including beds and lamps which meet the new regulation output requirements
and are offering generous upgrade schemes and trade in allowances.
Consideration to these changes is an urgent requirement
to businesses operating tanning salons in the UK as the regulations are
taking effect during 2008.
